The Sarnia-Lambton Children’s Aid Society (CAS) is increasing healthy activities for youth aged 15-21 years old who are in care or kinship care in Lambton County.
CAS started a running group as there was a need for our youth to engage in healthy activities and overcome fatigue by increasing their oxygen consumption. Noelle’s Gift provided $1500.00 towards the inititive.
The running group uses a variety of educational strategies such as group discussions, educating youth about fitness, nutrition, a healthy lifestyle and the impact of physical activity on mental health and well-being. The youth are facilitated by running coaches from Feet on Fire, two social workers from CAS and volunteer community members to act as mentors for the youth.
